Another day, another red lipstick to review, this time it’s something a little different in the MAC Chili lipstick.
MAC Chili is different from other red lipsticks we’ve tried, it has a rusty, orange-toned hue that’s different to Revlon Really Red, any of the Max Factor Marilyn Red collection or pretty much any red lipstick we’ve tried previously.
MAC Chili lipstick has an orange element to it, but there’s also a hint of brown to the colour too. This ensures that this red lipstick has more of an antique, old-school vibe to it. It definitely channels Old Hollywood, and you’ll instantly feel more glamorous wearing this stunning shade. This colour will look beautiful with a tonne of eye colours and complexions too.
The texture of the lipstick is matte, but it’s creamier than most and definitely won’t dry out your lips like other matte products, particularly MAC’s Retro Matte finish. For the best application, start with a lip brush to apply one layer, and then go over once again straight from the bullet.
The application of MAC Chili is smooth, there’s no pulling or tugging of this product, and it applies very evenly too.
Matte, slightly creamy, long-lasting colour, unique shade, full-on opaque coverage from one swipe, great beginner red
We can’t think of any
MAC Chili is the lipstick shade you need in your beauty stash if you’re looking for a red that’s a little more subtle, can be worn day-to-day and will stay put longer than your cups of tea too.
Don’t be put off by the fact it’s a matte lipstick, it’s very hydrating considering feels comfortable to use and wear on the lips. Thankfully, once it’s in place too, it stays put for a long time too.
