It’s the season of giving, and are you already practising the face for when you open your present off your partner?

You can’t be over-enthused, you can’t tell him you hate it and you certainly can’t throw a hissy fit.

When you receive a bad gift from your other half it’s important that you don’t act in the incorrect manner, otherwise, you may find yourself single come January 2016.

Cry

You’ll feel bad and he’ll feel worse. It’s the worst start to Christmas you could possibly have. If you do spill a tear, however, don't act like they are tears of joy instead wipe it away quickly and put on your best faux smile.

Act like you REALLY love it

This can be really confusing for men. If you act like you love it, he’ll think that you do and continue to buy you presents in the same realm (if it’s something for the house, then this is not a rut you want to get stuck in). And if you act over-enthused when you first open it, and then, later on, tell him you don’t actually like it, he’ll be hurt that you lied to him so openly.

Throw a hissy fit

You’re not a child, and a hissy fit will just send the wrong message to your other half. Plus they’re certainly not going to want to swap it for something else.

The most important thing to remember, don’t let it ruin your day, you don’t want your Christmas to be tainted with bad memories. Push it to the back of your mind for the day, and think about everything else they’ve done for you. And if you really can’t live with it, or really need something else, speak to them about it a few days later – especially if they’ve spent a lot of money on it. The chances are he just wants to make you smile.
