Lift out the bronzer
Bronzer might have looked a little out of place during the winter months when we’re considerably a lot paler, but now the sun is peaking out it’s natural that we’re going to get a bit of a tan and this can be beautifully enhanced with some bronzer. Give your face a glow with the addition of bronzer in your beauty routine, apply it to the highest points of your face because they’re the place you’ll catch the sun first. And remember to blend it out properly.
Take time to fake tan
Ensure your skin is summer ready with the addition of fake tan in your beauty routine, it’s the perfect way to safely get your skin glowing and bronzed. There’s a whole host of fake tans out there on the market and this year has seen some amazing new launches that you have to try. The Isle of Paradise brand has a wide selection of products that you’ll love, the Self-Tanning Drops, in particular, are great for adding to your usual moisturiser, helping you to build up a natural glow.
For those unplanned nights out, or surprising sunny days when you want to get your pins out the Bondi Sands 1 Hour tan is just the thing you need, it’s a gorgeous, fake tan that takes just an hour to develop.
Lighten your base
When the weather gets a little warmer the last thing you’ll want in the sticky heat is a full face of heavy coverage foundation, instead think about switching it up to a lighter base. There are loads of lightweight foundations on the market, or you could try a BB or CC cream in its place if you’re looking for just a hint of coverage. We haven’t found many people who aren’t fans of the IT Cosmetics CC Cream and L’Oreal have launched the Bonjour Nudist Skin Tint which is designed to even out your skin and provide you with natural looking coverage – perfect for the ‘I woke up like this’ look.
Switch to cream formulas
When it comes to blushers and highlighters through summer your first thought might be to reach for powders because they’ll last longer in the heat. But in reality, they can look cakey when you get hot and sweaty. Instead, choose cream formulas that will melt into the skin and last really well. You can choose from cream blushers, highlighters and bronzers to create your spring/summer beauty look, and they’ll look beautiful on the skin and add to that summer glow we all crave.
The great thing is that these can be used in multiple areas on the face, use your cream blusher as a lip product, and use your bronzer as an eyeshadow too. Another bonus, you won’t need brushes to apply these products either, they look best when they’re melted into your skin with your fingers.
Use an SPF
As much as we know we should be wearing an SPF all year round, it’s easy to forgo it through winter, but this needs to become an important step in your skincare routine particularly through the spring/summer when the sun is showing in all its glory. There are multiple products on the market now that won’t leave you with a white sheen and they’re excellent bases for your makeup application on top too. Remember it’s vital that you double cleanse in the evening to ensure that you remove all of your makeup and SPF too.
Tinted lip balm
Add some colour to your routine in the easiest way with a tinted lip balm product. They’re easy to wear and add a little pop to your beauty look. Plus, beauty brands have got a huge selection of different types for every taste.
The great thing about these is that you don’t need to constantly reapply them, and you get a subtle hint of colour without the drying effect that sometimes comes with lipsticks.
Gel creams
You’ve been slathering yourself in oils and thick moisturisers throughout winter and your skin has loved you for it. Now it’s time to pack those away and choose something a little lighter and more refreshing for your skin and the innovative gel formulas we’re seeing more and more from brands is definitely what you want to use.
These products still pack a punch when it comes to moisturising, but yet they still feel light and refreshing on the skin. L’Occitane has a new product, Thirst-Quenching Gel which works to recharge skin that’s looking lacklustre. Dior’s new Hydra Life collection is a line of wide-ranging products that all work to intensely hydrate but with light sorbet formulas.
