Whilst dresses can be a great option for weddings, christenings, the races and more this summer, there are plenty of other outfit alternatives you can try too, these are our top picks.

Whilst you might be prone to scrolling through the hundreds of occasion dresses that are available on ASOS, there are plenty of other outfit choices that can make just as much of a sartorial statement, if not more so.

These are the dress alternatives for your summer events this year, and whilst they might take a little more effort and consideration when it comes to what to wear with them, the style pay off will undoubtedly be worth it.

The suit

The suit is without a doubt the must-have piece of the season, and we love the bold look for summer events too. From pastel colours, printed options or all white, the suit makes an impact. Keep the look streamlined and wear nothing underneath the jacket or a simple cami top and add a pair of heels for a killer look that’s going to make a statement.

The great thing about the suit is that you can split up the pieces to help create a number of different looks to see you through summer, they’re definitely worth the investment.

Jumpsuit

Much like dresses, jumpsuits are a great option because you can literally throw them on and you’re done, you’ve got a ready-made stylish outfit with little effort.

Whilst they might be a pain when you’re headed to the loo, they’re definitely worth the struggle for those few minutes.

Get the right fit for your body and they can make you look leaner and taller, just make sure they’re still grazing the floor when you’re wearing heels unless of course, you’re wearing a cropped style.

The skirt and top

These outfits can take a little planning but they’re definitely worth the payoff and the chances of someone turning up to the same event wearing the exact same outfit is pretty much slim to none.

Remember to keep the look balanced, so if you wear a big skirt keep the top half more streamlined, or pair it with a pretty cropped top to show off a hint of skin. If you’re wearing a fitted skirt, you have the option of choosing a more oversized style of top with statement sleeves or a pussybow neckline.

Shorts

Tailored shorts can make a great look when worn alone, or worn with a blazer to make a smart but sassy suit choice. Keep the look simple and if you’re headed to the races or a wedding you could pair the outfit with a gorgeous headpiece to make a statement.
