It’s hard for people to realise the good parts of themselves, but if you just make small bullet points and start from there, or even ask some close friends and family what they think you should talk about, you’ll have the basics for your profile.

Check spelling and grammar

You don’t want to look stupid on your profile, and the easiest way to do this is making sure you have used correct spellings, grammar and punctuation throughout. Read it through a couple of times before you make it live, and ask someone close to you to cast their eyes over it too.

Update regularly

You don’t want an out-of-date profile that doesn’t showcase where you are in life at the moment, but then again you don’t need to update it every single day, letting potential dates what you’re doing, when you’re doing it and who you’re doing it with.

Choose appropriate images

Obviously it’s important that you have no naked or nearly naked images and no selfies of you pouting into the camera. Choose natural images of you smiling and laughing – they’re more likely to entice someone than a photograph of you with a duck face.

Have a positive approach

Choose positive and happy language when you’re writing about yourself, and turn what you may see as a negative into a positive too.

Keep it simple

Nobody will want to read a four-page essay about your life, so make sure you keep your profile simple with the most important information at the top. That way people can easily see whether you’re compatible with them or not.
