There’s nothing quite like taking the day for yourself and having a full on pamper, it helps you feel restored and rejuvenated. To help ensure you get all the components right, we have the ultimate guide to a spa/pamper day at home.

First of all, you want to choose a dedicated time slot to ensure that you don’t have any other commitments and won’t need to run any errands. Take some time for yourself to really pamper and preen yourself.

Follow our steps to ensure you get the most from your pamper day, and indulge in a spa day at home.

Create ambiance

Play gentle music, light some candles, close over the blinds and really let your atmosphere get chilled out. If you live on a busy road or street, keep the windows shut to drown out the noise. Use a lamp if you need a little extra light too, don’t drown the room in bright light with a ceiling light.

Take a bath and shave

The warm water will help relax your muscles, and you could even add a bath bomb, some bubbles or an indulgent oil to really pamper your skin whilst you soak.

Shave your legs too, we know it takes effort, but there’s nothing quite like freshly shaven silky smooth skin. Your pyjamas somehow feel even more comfortable when we’ve just shaven our legs.

Don’t forget to light some candles in your bathroom too, you want to create a relaxing atmosphere.

Apply a hair mask

Give your hair a treat with an indulgent, moisturising hair mask. You could try a homemade one or opt for one of our favourites. Hair masks are great for giving your locks a new lease of life, add some shine, make hair more manageable and add a dose of moisture. Depending on the ones you choose they can also help repair damaged hair or strengthen your hair too.

Apply a face mask

You can’t have a pampering session without a face mask, or three. Give your skin an exfoliation, a deep clean, and a dose of moisture for a trio of masks that are going to leave your skin looking and feeling its best. Or if you can’t be bothered waiting and reapplying each mask, try the multi-masking trend – apply a specific mask to certain areas of the skin.

Soak your feet

Don’t forget your feet during your pamper session. If you still have a foot massager lurking in the depths of your cupboard or under the bed, lift it out and make use of it. If not, make your own foot soak in the bath or a big enough bowl that will fit both your feet comfortably.

You can foot soak products in Boots, or you can make your own using some honey, lemon and apple cider vinegar. This combination will help remove dead skin cells, ease swollen feet, moisturise and relax your muscles too. Add the three ingredients to warm water, in a bowl or the bath, and allow your feet to soak for 10 minutes.

Give yourself a pedicure

After you’ve enjoyed your foot soak, give your feet some exfoliation with your favourite tool, whether it’s manual like a Ped Egg or mechanical like the Scholl Pedi Velvet Smooth. Rub some hydrating foot cream and get to work on your toes, updating your nail varnish as you go. A bright colour on the toes always works wonders for making them look their best – plus a fun colour is bound to put a smile on your face when you look at them.

Primp your eyebrows

Brush through your brows and see whether there are any stray hairs that need plucking, or bushy brows might need a little trim. Just a little bit of tidying up to your brows can make a big difference to your face. Plus, the start of a monobrow is not going to leave you feeling very glamorous.

Indulge in your favourite skincare

You know those skincare products you use sparingly and only for special occasions, well today is the day to whip them out. Whether it’s a luxurious oil, expensive serum or thick and creamy moisturiser, layer them on and let your skin drink up all the goodness.

Apply some tan

Applying some fake tan can work wonders on your mood, everything is better with a bit of glow. So whether you prefer to use a gradual tan or something a little stronger, your future self will certainly thank you for it.

Paint your nails

Painting your nails might not take that long, but ensuring they’re dry and won’t smudge can seem to take forever. So make sure you have Netflix or some sort of catch-up show on the TV to watch whilst they dry.

Pillow spray and sleep

A lavender pillow spray is going to ensure you have the right setting for a perfect night’s sleep. Turn off all technology an hour before sleep time, and read a book or magazine, or simply take some time to think before you actually nod off. Creating the right kind of atmosphere before bed can have a big impact on the quality of your sleep.
