Philips Lumea IPL Design

The Philips brand is synonymous with quality, and they have more than 12 years experience with IPL technology so you can rest easy that you're getting the best for your money with their products.

The Lumea device gives a solution to normal methods of hair removal we've become accustomed to using.

The device works by using two treatment modes, one is best for large areas, another to treat more target areas.

The Slide and Flash is recommended for legs, the Step and Flash is ideal for the bikini line and underarm area.

There's even another attachment that you can use on the face, that's included in the box. This precision attachment is designed to be extra safe when targeting this area like the upper lip etc.

If you have more sensitive skin, it might be ideal to use this attachment too.

How it works

The Philips Lumea uses a version of the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology which is typically used in salons, but has been adaptated, so you can safely use it at home too.

Quite simply, with gentle pulses of light, it works to target the hair root and stop it from growing. Once you've done this, the hair will stop growing, and hair that's already there will shed naturally.

It's advised that you use the device once every 2-4 weeks, as this prevents your hair roots becoming active once again, stopping new hair from growing back.

Research has shown that you can see a reduction in hair growth in as little as two treatments, done fortnightly. And after just four or five treatments you'll be hair free. Then it's up to you to keep up the treatments every four to six weeks to ensure the hair doesn't grow back. Definitely a better option than having to shave every few days, if you ask us.

Will it work for you?

It's important to note that the Philips Lumea will not work on every hair colour, but will work on most. Those with naturally dark blonde, brown and black hairs will benefit from the treatment. However, people with red, light blonde, or grey hair might not experience the same results. If you have very dark skin, it's unlikely that the treatment will work on you either.
