The news comes after it was revealed that Stallone had quit work on the final Expendables movie because of creative conflicts with producer Avi Lerner.

Schwarzenegger confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that there is no Expendables without Sly, and he won't be doing the film without him.

The Expendables franchise

Stallone was a huge part of the all-star action movies, turning them into a lucrative film series, not only did he appear in them, but throughout the three films he also worked as a director, writer and producer.

Arnie disappointed with role

But even if Sly tried to talk Arnie around he wouldn’t be sure that he’d return because wasn't particularly happy with the fact his role in The Expendables 3 was so limited.

He thinks his role in the first two films were really terrific, but in the third one his character wasn't written well.

Arnie was quick to share his love for the franchise, and if Sly creates a character for him that is well developed he consider taking the role once again.

Will Sly return to the franchise?

Producer Avi Lerner is confident that there is still a chance the Sly will return to the project. As these disagreements have been going on for some time now.

He insists it isn't dead, yet.
