In 1976, identical twins Jean and Jane Ford opened up a makeup shop in San Francisco called the Face Place. In 1990, the store was renamed to Benefit and the first counter opened in Henri Bendel, New York. In 1997, the brand came to the UK, launching at Harrods in London. In 1999, the brand was acquired by Moet Hennessy- Louis Vuitton, a leading luxury products group. In 2008, Jean and Jane's daughters Maggie and Annie joined the brand to bring it to a new generation.
