The Gilmore Girls revival is nearly here, (13 days away in fact) and we’re getting excited for the return of our favourite mum and daughter duo. But where exactly are the characters now? And where would we like them to end up?
There have already been suggestions that this could possibly not be the very end of the Gilmore Girls, but we won’t get our hopes up too much till we’ve watched the four episodes.
Where did it end?
When we last saw the Gilmore's, Rory had just graduated from Yale and was leaving to cover Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Lorelai and Luke shared a kiss, giving us all hope that there could be a future for the couple.
Where are they now?
A Year In the Life takes places in the present day, adn of course we're back in Stars Hollow. Lorelai is still loving her life running her own inn, the Dragonfly. Rory is back in Stars Hollow, although we're not entirely sure if it's permament and she's still writing.
Lauren Graham says the story has shifted now, it's no longer about a girl in education, it follows on with the struggles she faces in the real world. Graham says that even though the dynamics between Rory, Lorelai and Emily have developed, they're still the same.
Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino says she loved writing the series, because it was no longer about a girl and her mum, but two women. It's very real and they get to talk about the real stuff and even drink together.
Emily Gilmore is without a doubt one of our favourite characters in the show, and it's amazing to see how she has grown. Now she has lost her husband, Richard, and we get to see how her, Rory and Lorelai all deal with this.
Emily Bishop says they tell the story through memories as well as flashbacks. She says it was interesting to see how it all played out.
The rest of Stars Hollow
Of course, that’s only a hint of what’s happening in Stars Hollow. Without giving too much away, fans will learn about Kirk’s latest business idea, see a new musical staged by Taylor, hear what Lane and her band have been up to, of course, find out what citizens are buzzing about at the latest town meeting.
Scott Patterson, who plays Luke, says the series has a lot of resolution to it, plus questions will be answered and new ones asked. He thinks the fans are going to be really satisfied with the outcome of the series.
Where we’d like them to end up
Of course, we all want Luke and Lorelai to end up together and married, they couldn’t make it down the aisle in the series but let’s hope it’s either already happened or we get to see them do it.
Rory to be succeeding, throughout the series we followed her through school and college as she worked hard to make her journalistic dreams come true. We can only hope that in these four episodes we see her get the success she deserves. And let’s not forget, is completely in love too. We’re definitely team Logan, but a new man could definitely shake things up.
